HBA - Remembrance

Holbeach Bank Academy paid their respects for those fallen in a trifecta of events:

HBA - Remembrance

First, all children and staff were involved in a Remembrance service around our yew tree. This is a tradition stemmed from Covid-19 times; each class has their section around the tree and we shared work completed and held a minute’s silence to the haunting Last Post.

We also read original war poems, one which has been sent to the Royal British Legion, and the iconic Fallen Fields poem. For the first time, members of the local community around the school were invited via a leaflet drop and it was wonderful to share the service with those around us.

Royal British Legion poppy merchandise was also sold during the week in school and snap bands, wristbands, key chains and the traditional poppies were worn by children. Secondly, children were invited to two different Remembrance services on Armistice Day – one in the centre of Holbeach and one in Holbeach Hurn. Wreaths were laid at both on our behalf and our children paid their respects in a mature way, representing the academy in public events beautifully.
