UAH - Eco Team Air Quality Project
Members of the Academy’s Eco Team are taking part in an Air Quality project, run by Lincolnshire County Council. They are taking part in six sessions which will explore what Air Pollution is, what fossil fuels are, the heath effects of air pollution and also how to plan a campaign to improve the air quality at the academy. Pupils have taken part in a number of science experiments, including assessing the lichen growing on trees in the grounds of the school, looking at particulate matter on different surfaces and measuring the amount of ozone in the air. This last experiment was rather challenging because of the recent wet weather, but everyone approached it with a really positive attitude, even as we stood on the field, sheltered by an umbrella, trying to get readings!
