Wednesday 19 June 2024 HPA - World Music Day - Music Through the Deacades This year, our academy organised a special event on 13 June 2024, that allowed the children to showcase their musical talents and revel in the joy of live performance. We invited a local live band, who graciously agreed to accompany our young musicians during their performances. It was indeed a thrilling opportunity for the children to experience the dynamics of performing live music alongside professional musicians. Each class had the chance to perform a piece that they had been practising diligently over the past weeks. The enthusiasm and energy in the performances was delightful, as the children’s hard work and dedication shone brightly through their performances. An esteemed panel of judges was present to evaluate the performances, and their task was undeniably challenging given the impressive talent displayed by all the children. After much deliberation, the judges announced that Willow and Acer classes had delivered the standout performances of the day, earning them the title.

Wednesday 19 June 2024 GHA - Kin Ball! We were lucky enough to have a visit from Rupert Gibson, to teach the children Kin Ball. There were lots of fun activities and he also taught the children how to play a mini game of Kin Ball. They had to think about team work and communication – it was very tiring! Olly and Jonathan both gave it 10 out of 10 and would love to try it again!

Tuesday 11 June 2024 GHA - National Smile Month Our local Dental Nurses visited school with a presentation about the importance of dental hygiene, and showed us some experiments too. They even gave some of the younger children a small pack of resources including stickers and a toothbrush. GHA staff also created lots of activities for the children to explore all together in the hall, around the theme of dental health. They had a super time exploring all the activities and it was wonderful to take turns, share and interact with children from different classes.

Tuesday 11 June 2024 HBA - D-Day Commemorative Activities As part of our DD-Day commemorative activities, pupils gathered around our Yew Tree to share learning and pay tribute to the brave allied forces. Glen and Witham classes created a beach scene around the tree with model small boats arriving on the sands and silhouettes of planes flying through the sky. Nene class wrote and recited their tribute poems which explained the story of Operation Overlord in rhyming couplets. Welland Class sang the wartime song Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and discussed the symbolism of those lyrics. We were joined by our Chair of Governors, Mrs Jenny Worth, who is delighted that the lock-down tradition of gathering around the Yew Tree on significant occasions continues long after the Covid restrictions have passed.

Thursday 6 June 2024 HPA/HBA - D Day Memorial Commemoration Children from Holbeach Primary Academy and Holbeach Bank Academy joined member of the British Legion, All Saints Church and other local schools to take part in the 80th Anniversary of the D Day Landings in 1944. The children represented both academies proudly and there were children from each that shared poems they had written. Each child also laid a D Day flag to commemorate those that lost their lives in the D Day landings 80 years ago. We could not have been more proud of the children who showed great respect in representing the academies and being part of this event. The children had been learning about the D Day landings as part of their curriculum work and were able to share facts with members of the British Legion.

Monday 18 March 2024 GHA - Association for Physical Education, Distinction! Mrs Worley, our PE lead, and all of the staff, work very hard to ensure that our children all access a range of excellent and engaging PE experiences. The Association for Physical Education considered GHA’s application for their quality mark and conducted a validation visit to school. They have awarded us the Quality Mark with Distinction for ‘demonstrating outstanding commitment to improvement in Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity’. They told us this is because: GHA’s PE curriculum is fully inclusive, broad, needs and context-driven and transformative with all pupils making excellent progress in relation to their abilities/communication skills and sensory needs; this is highly significant because the range of abilities and needs are incredibly wide and far reaching. The leadership and management of PESSPA are exemplary with the new PE Lead powerfully supported by the SLT advocating PESSPA in the school community and beyond and ensuring PESSPA is at the heart

Monday 4 March 2024 GHA - Lincolnshire Reading Pledge - Bronze Award! We are very proud to announce that GHA has been awarded the Lincolnshire Reading Pledge - Bronze Award. The Lincolnshire Reading Pledge has been developed by Witham St Hugh’s English Hub and L.E.A.D. Teaching School Hub, working in collaboration with Professor Teresa Cremin (Reading for Pleasure & The Open University). At Gosberton House Academy, we value the importance of Reading for Pleasure and the positive impact it can have. Our children take part in sensory story sack activities, take home library books and spend time exploring new books in our Story Den. To achieve the award, staff and pupils worked towards meeting a range of criteria throughout the academic year. Our reading ambassadors have helped choose some new reading for pleasure books for school and discussed what they would like to see in the library. Some of our Key Stage 2 children go to the lunchtime Story Den club. Thank you to all of our families, staff and children who have supported our reading challenges, sh
